So you want to skate, but maybe the rink isn’t open, you’re tired of dodging kids, or the weather is just too nice to stay indoors. Outdoor skating is a great way to sharpen your skills while enjoying the fresh air!

To help you get started, we’ve put together a list of outdoor skating spots around Kansas City. 

Before you head out, make sure your gear is ready. Outdoor wheels are softer and designed to handle debris and rougher surfaces. You can grab a set at Legacy Skates. Some skaters use old indoor wheels they’ve retired, but using your current indoor wheels outdoors is not recommended, as they can get damaged. 

As always, wear your protective gear while practicing your skating and roller derby skills.
